If you ever wonder about small town on your way from the airport to Dubrovnik you have been looking at Cavtat. Cavtat is definitely place to see. There is something for everybody in Cavtat: Bukovac house for people found of arts, couple of very good restaurants, nice long seashore to walk with your partner, or you can just enjoy in sun and peace of real Mediterranean city. So, if you want to have a great trip, don’t hesitate to take bus number 10 and drive from Dubrovnik to its last station. Cavtat won’t disappoint you. You may even fall in love in it…..
Bukovac HouseVlaho Bukovac memorial house (1855 – 1922) as its permanent exhibitions it has artist’s works through his lifetime. As well you can see the furniture from different life periods most of the walls are painted by the artist when he was only 17 years old before his education in Paris. The house is an example of urban architecture from the end of 19th ct. with the beautiful garden and the artist’s studio. In part of the house many exhibitions have been performed.
ElafitiElaphites include Daksa, Kolo?ep, St. Andrija, Lopud, Ruda, Šipan, Jakljan, Tajan i Olipa. Mostly these are small and uninhabited islands. The ones that are inhabited are Kolo?ep, Lopud and Šipan and they can be reached by ferry boat.
Lopudis the closest island to Dubrovnik. Local people call it Kalamota. There you can find two small villages(Gornje ?elo and Donje ?elo), each of them on different sides of the island. Between them there is small graveyard with chapel as well as many remains of old architectural monuments. If you are interested in staying longer on the island, and enjoy sandy beaches and beautiful nature, you can be accommodated in one of the Villas pertaining to "Hotels Kolo?ep".
SipanIs situated between Kolo?ep and Šipan. The ferry boat will take you to the northwest side of the island, where there is a settlement also called Lopud. There you can find sandy beaches, restaurants and café bars. On this side there are also hotels for your accommodation. On the other side of the island there is beautiful bay with sandy beach called Šunj, where you can rent deck chair or beach umbrella, and have something to eat at the beach's restaurant. The only negative side of Šunj is that can be reached only by foot or by taxi boat, since there is no traffic on the island. Šunj is also special beach because it is half normal and half nudist beach. Just look for the sign!!!
KolocepIs the most populated of all Elaphits. There are two major settlements on Šipan, situated on the opposite sides of the island, Su?ura? on the southeast and Luka Šipanska on the southwest. On the island you can enjoy untouched nature, numerous churches, summer residences, and several monasteries. You can also find hotel accommodation on this island.
MljetIf you are looking for a calm and romantic place where you can renew your energy, Mljet is the right island for you. Mljet is also known by the name Odyssey’s island. By the legend, in the time of ancient Gods, Odyssey shipwrecked here. Today this is the place where you can find tranquility, explore the breathtaking nature, go cycling, scuba diving or even learn how to sail. While you are there you should definitely visit the National Park Mljet. Since there are so many things “for heart and soul” here, you will probably want to spend a few days on this island.
