Aqueduct – Dubrovnik had in 1438 first aqueduct. It was build by Italian constructor Onofrio della Cava, and brought to the Town from 12 km away springs by system of canals.
Pharmacy – one of the oldest pharmacies in Europe established in 14th ct. still operates as a part of the Franciscan monastery.
St. Blaze – Dubrovnik’s protection saint is Sv. Vlaho or St. Blaze. His statues are all over the most important buildings, city doors, fortresses and bastions. The saint is shown in its bishop outfit with the model of Dubrovnik in his hand. Today in Dubrovnik you can see around 20 of his statues.
Summer residences – in the vicinity of the town and its surrounding area Dubrovnik people have built, over the centuries, around 300 summer residencies with gardens. Today, unfortunately, only the small number is in good shape.
Consulates – before Dubrovnik Republic was abolished in 1808 Dubrovnik had more then 80 consulates and representatives in many world ports.
City Walls – Dubrovnik city walls are 1940 meters long. Those in Stone (town near Dubrovnik) are long 4.5 km and are one of the longest ones in the world.
Ships – it the past the main source of revenue in Dubrovnik was trade and maritime. Dubrovnik ships were known all over the world and at the end of 18th ct. there was over 300 ships that sailed under the Dubrovnik flag.
Rupe – to protect grain shortage Dubrovnik people in 16 ct have built granary called Rupe, building built into the cliff where they had to carve 15 grain containers that can accept 150 wagons of grain.
Synagogue – Dubrovnik synagogue is one of the oldest ones in Europe, it was established in 14th ct.
